Accuplacer Testing

About Accuplacer
Vermont State uses Accuplacer placement tests administered by the College Board. Accuplacer information and sample questions are available here or through the Accuplacer Study App. Accuplacer covers the following content:
- Writing
- Reading
- Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra & Statistics
- Some applicants may additionally take Advanced Algebra & Functions
There is no fee to take the Accuplacer.

Who is required to take Accuplacer?
While Vermont State is test-optional for most programs, some programs require the Accuplacer, and some students are asked to take Accuplacer. Details include:
- Accuplacer is required for Dental Hygiene, Nursing A.S., Nursing Degree Completion, Practical Nursing Certificate, Radiologic Science, and Respiratory Therapy applicants.
- Accuplacer is required for Vermont Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) program applicants.
- Applicants may be asked to take Accuplacer to provide further information for admission review.
Approved transfer credit in math and/or English will waive Accuplacer testing. We can waive the Accuplacer after we receive your college/university transcript showing transfer credit.
